Mmmaaaaarrrrrrtttttyyyyyyyyy

What a stunningly awesome scene in NASCAR nation. Mmmmaaarrrtttyyy comes out of his crease too far, gets bumped, doesn't get back into position quickly, punches the guy who bumped him and the game-winning goal sails into the net with 0.2 seconds left on the clock. Carolina wins 4-3 to tie the series at two. He chases down the ref and throws a tantrum, slamming his stick at the ice as souvenir towels rain down around him. Check it out, courtesy of MJM at HockeyDump.

That was spectacular; listen to Chico cry for his boy!! As a Ranger fan, I can only applaud. Sheer awesomeness.

Mmmaaaaarrrrrrtttttyyyyyyyyy, Mmmaaaaarrrrrrtttttyyyyyyyyy

Proof that Chico is the biggest homer on television. Yeah Marty got bumped, but it didn't have an effect on the actual goal.

Hearing Chico complain about the goal was pathetic. Applauding Marty for slamming his stick saying "good for him" was absurd.

no matter what happens in the rest of this series, at least we can always remember this is the playoffs that jack edwards believes the bruins are the second coming of the minutemen fighting the british and this wonderful marty/chico moment.

"Gilroy looked great in the Frozen Four but let's face it, he wasn't drafted for a reason. Maybe he is indeed a late bloomer and he will join Staal, Girardi, Sanguinetti, Del Zotto, Potter and Sauer as the future Blue blueline but maybe not"

part of the above linked article is shown here. also a nice video from his coach about him

"During his freshman and sophomore years, Gilroy grew seven inches and gained more than 50 pounds. And his game improved — so much that less than two years after his tenuous beginning at BU, the pros came calling. Nearly every team in the National Hockey League was courting the player who had barely made the college team"

So he is indeed a late bloomer. Thanks for the heads up Joe!!! Hopefully this kid can come through. Gilroy looked great against kids younger than him, if he can keep the same composure he will be worth the two year contract ...

Marty was bumped, though he was out of crease so Chico was wrong about that. If it was any other goalie, that would have still been called interference. As for Chico as a commentator, he is still better than both Joe AND JD. JD was horrible, especially towards the end as I really do think he was going senile. When the Rangers played the Blue earlier this year, they interviewed JD and he trouble remembering player's names, even on his Blues.

Just goes to show what a classless clown Devils fans are.

Chico - "Its not like he was outside the crease and therefor fair game"

Yeah.. ooookay. He was like 2ft outside the crease.

Then he says 'Any other goalie int he league gets that call' ... Really? Because MMMAARRRTTYYYY gets no special treatment? Christ that man needs a reality check.

I guess chanting Potvin sucks chant repeatedly during Adam Graves Night ceremony is considered "classy" for Ranger fans.

Brodeur is becoming the next Patrick Roy, both statistically and in temperament.

If any other player besides the Devils "fat goalie" slammed his stick against the boards like that in protest, they'd be suspended or at least penalized.

Notice that Brodeur and the 'Canes player bumped each other. The 'Canes player was drifting backwards, and Brodeur drifted forwards. Since Brodeur was facing forward, he could have tried to avoid contact too--which occurred outside the crease anyway.

And "Marty party"? Sheesh. I miss the days of Thorn and McNab calling the Devils' games.
