Any Publicity Is Good Publicity?

From NHL's daily media advisory today:
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
The Canada-themed Dec. 15 episode of CBS's "How I Met Your Mother" featured a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey.

How desperate is the NHL? They want to point out minutia like this and yet 'sloppy seconds' - which put hockey on every news and sports station - brought out a six game suspension?

*Shaking head*

If Im not mistaken it featured all of the canadian team jerseys.

Im 100% positive that it also included Vancouver.

Should I be ashamed that I watch the show? *shrugs*

Think of this if you will:

The AHL has been sending out a lot of e-mail under their new promotion push. At the same time, Sean Avery gets a very public, very unecessary suspension, benched by his team, and all of a sudden that same publicity vaccuum may find himself in the AHL of all places. I think Gary is just trying to help the farm teams get some viewers. Maybe he'll ask Chris Simon to come back to the NHL and accept a "conditioning stint" in the AHL also. Think Theo Fleury is healthy (read:clean) enough to play in the NHL(read:AHL) again?
