Gordon's Fishermen
The jokes just write themselves with these clowns. The Islanders hired Providence Bruins head coach Scott Gordon to replace Ted Nolan. The AHL coach of the year replacing a former NHL coach of the year. Well, it can be assured that the Islanders will be a disaster this season but they are on track to be good down the line. Under Gordon's tutelage, Brad Boyes, Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and even Andy Hilbert have learned what it takes to be a NHLer (although Hilbert has thus far failed at the execution part of it).
Where Ted Nolan ensured the Isles were a threat every night, Gordon will nurture the kids and boost their egos as they struggle as the doormats of the Eastern Conference. They will get Hedman or Tavares as one of the top picks in next summer's draft and hope that they are ready by the time the Lighthouse Project goes through (oh my, you have to go to the website and listen to the song! Priceless!!).
Until then:
