Bettman Bounces Torts

Tortorella was suspended for a game after one of his many stupid moves on Friday, the throwing of a water bottle at a bandwagon Washington fan. The Rangers replied:
New York, April 25, 2009 – The New York Rangers have issued the following statement in response to Head Coach John Tortorella’s one game suspension:

“We disagree with the suspension and will have no further comment.”
They can't comment because they would be wrong. Tortorella lowered himself to the Washington fan's level and the suspension was well justified. Jim Schoenfeld should take the Rangers reins for the game and should have a better chance to close out the series than Torts would have. Shoeny can handle Avery and was a solid coach in his day before moving upstairs. He should do fine, at least since Don Koharski won't be the ref ...

Ironic to think that Torts wanted to set an example for Avery when he's the one who put the team in jeporady (not Avery's penalties). As much as I wanted Renney fired, Torts wasn't the answer, plus Renney sure seemed to have more control of Avery than Torts did. Torts was able to have success because of guys like Antropov, Morris, and Avery, but Renney never had that opportunity.
Ted Nolan FTW!

So are you saying that Tortorella is all of a sudden an incompetent coach?

All of a sudden? He did get canned from Tampa of all places ... he lays the stick hard until players stop listening to him. Our players seemingly don't care enough to get the message, or at least to act on it every night.

Only a few players do listen to him, but those are the players we constantly talk about all the time: Cally, Sjo, Staal, Girardi, and Blair. But there are way too many "stars"on this team who think they can do everything themselves, ex: Zherdev, Gomez, and Redden. I'm not saying Torts is a bad coach, I just don't think he fits the way these players play. IDK just my opinion.

Lets win today, shall we?

Can you spell Bergeron? An epic meltdown looms. Perhaps that will end the smoke and mirrors that this bunch of odd parts actually makes sense as a collective whole. We've all sat next to ********, whether Eagles or Devils fans, and self-discipline is critical.

i think hes a good coach, but incredibly stupid, very. He should have known that he would be suspended and honestly this could cost the series. I dont know whats going to happen, but i think the chances of it being bad are higher than being good.

stupid move by a hot head coach. i was pretty surprised to find out he was the one that squirted the water before he had the beer thrown on him. i thought for sure it would have to be the other way around...but i guess that's why he was suspended.

it will either fire the rangers up to win for their coach or they will lay an egg....we will find out soon!

Scotty please, it's not like he's some miracle cure. This team collectively doesn't care about any sort of message. It's going to need to be revamped over the summer to fit his style. He hasn't even been a coach for half a season and your ready to give him the axe.

I know Adam Oates--he played for 'Shoney' in washington and said he was the biggest idiot he has ever played for...good luck with that...
