Pierre Turgeon ended his 19-year NHL career Wednesday, retiring after groin and calf injuries limited him to 17 games last season with the Colorado Avalanche.
Turgeon said he will coach his daughter's under-16 girls' hockey team, which sounds appropriate since he played like a girl while in the NHL. I loathed him on the Isles. Normally, I wouldn't bother to include it here, but it does allow me to post a favourite, dirty moment in hockey history:
And to think I got a Ovechkin Caps jersey instead of Dale Hunter, stupid me!

Let me be the first to stand up for the girls playing hockey in this great land of ours: My 11-year old niece, Nina, is a tougher player than Pierre T, and has been since she started checking her older brother into basement walls to get his puck, so watch the "girl hockey" references!!!
But I kid because I love :-) Looking forward to your post after Anaheim checks in with their Neidermayer news tomorrow afternoon. My guess? He's out climbing Everest with his west coast hipster seeker buddies. And good luck to him!
