Thanks Denis ...

I have been remiss lately in my coverage outside of the Rangers and for that I sincerely apologize. One thing I want to quickly address before running to the city for tonight's Original Six game against the Leafs is the coaching change by another old opponent - the Blackhawks. With skyrocketing expectations, Chicago decided to replace Denis Savard with Joel Quenneville. While Quenneville is a drunk driver and never took the Aves particularly far (his Cup ring came as an assistant in '96), the Hawks felt that his experience would be more valuable than Savard's moxie. It is for the latter that I hope Savard will be remembered because he did remind his players - and us - that they are part of something bigger than themselves and they are getting paid to contribute to the greater good:

Hopefully Savard will get another shot somewhere else; maybe he can pull a Tony Granato and go back to apprenticing for a little while before re-taking the reins himself. Best of luck Denis, hope to see you in the game again soon.
